A Brief Book Notice from Books At a Glance
by Fred G. Zaspel
Christopher Ash is one of my favorite authors. Always well-informed, insightful, Christ-centered, pastoral, and enriching.
Ash writes this book because many Christians seem discouraged, perhaps ministers especially. And he writes to encourage:
In this short book I want to introduce you to a man who was faithful in difficult days. He will surely hear the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” He lived more than 850 years before Jesus Christ. He appears only once in the Bible story. And then he disappears forever. Unless you have been a zealous Bible reader for some years, you will not even know the name of Micaiah, the son of Imlah.
This work is brief. The story of Micaiah takes up only about one chapter of 2 Chronicles. But as we have come to expect from Christopher Ash, in this new book he points us to Christ and to increased faithfulness in serving him. Micaiah – an overlooked prophet whose ministry was recorded for us in brief “as an example … written down for our admonition” (1Cor.10:11). Ash reminds us of him profitably.
