A Book Notice from Books At a Glance

by Fred G. Zaspel

It would be difficult indeed to keep up with contemporary biblical scholarship without the theological periodicals, and I can’t imagine being without the Theological Journals Bundle from Logos (see here and here). I have used it regularly and often for years.

The “theological journal” has been with us for a long time, and its continued publication is an indispensable resource for the serious student. I have subscribed to several of the journals for a long time, and for many years the electronic versions have proven to be an invaluable resource I turn to often. The advantages of the Logos version are many, most obviously its comprehensiveness (dozens of journals) and of course its indexing, searchability, and accessibility. I have hundreds of theological journals all available at the click of the mouse.

I have thousands of books in my Logos library, and this category is among the most important. I have a defined “Journals Collection” in my Logos program that includes hundreds of issues of journals so that within seconds I can search a given topic through all the years of their production and from there narrow to the articles I find most relevant to my study. And of course, I can search each individual article for any particular information I am seeking. Within seconds I’ve found the articles most beneficial to my study and am well on my way to learning.

Here is just a sample list of the journals available in the Logos Journal Bundles:

  • Bible and Spade
  • Bibliotheca Sacra
  • Christian History Magazine
  • Credo Magazine
  • Founders Journal
  • Journal for Biblical Manhood & Womanhood
  • Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society
  • The Master’s Seminary Journal
  • Puritan Reformed Journal
  • Southern Baptist Journal of Theology
  • Themelios
  • Trinity Journal
  • Westminster Theological Journal

These and many more are included in the Logos Bundles, and it is one of the most valuable aspects of the Logos products. (You can browse through the full lists of included journals here and here.) And of course updates of these become available annually as new editions of the journals are published.

Very highly recommended. Worth its weight in gold.
