Fred Sanders has established himself as a leading theologian on the doctrine of the Trinity—when he speaks, people tend to listen. The Triune God is his most recent work on the subject, and this new video series is a survey of the same material.
One of Sanders’ very helpful traits is his ability to simplify. He is very well-versed in his subject and is able to present profound trinitarian concepts with simple clarity. This series of lessons will doubtless help theological students and pastors grasp the various aspects of Trinitarian thought. And they would work well in a Sunday School setting also, but probably only with a pastor or other well-informed teacher to lead discussion, explore related Scripture together, and handle accompanying questions.
Sanders does not spend a lot of time exploring the biblical text, specifically, but he is always opening biblical concepts and thus providing a frame of reference for more extended biblical investigation and discussion. And his leading emphasis (reflecting Warfield here) that the saving mission of the triune God provides the window to understanding the Trinity is enormously helpful.
