The arrival of this book was very timely, given that our new granddaughter’s name is Grace! And I was also struck by the uniqueness of the book – there just isn’t much available on this topic. But my, what a wonderfully important topic Larry McCall takes up in these pages – Christian grandparenting. We hear much about Christian parenting, but this topic is almost completely overlooked.
In the broad category of Christian Living the books are endless, and with seemingly endless application to specific areas aspects of Christian faithfulness. But this book finds a niche and makes a genuine contribution. McCall’s counsel is not fluff but solid, biblically-grounded, gospel-centered, eminently useful for every Christian grandparent. For those of us who have entered this stage of life it’s a needed and genuinely helpful guide. If you are a grandparent, you need this book. Your role is not just to enjoy your grandchildren – you have position and influence that you must use for their eternal good. Even if you think you’re already on focus, you’ll find this book warmly, even enjoyably and practically challenging
I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It should be required reading for every grandparent in our churches!
