We are very happy to see this new book from Sinclair Ferguson, From the Mouth of God: Trusting, Reading, and Applying the Bible. He is a long-time friend and one of my [FGZ] favorite theologian-preachers. The combined depth and warmth of his preaching and writing is reminiscent of the best of Old Princeton.

Reading the Bible is just about the most basic exercise of our faith. This is so, of course, because in the Bible we hear God speak – of himself and what he has done for us, and of what he expects of us – and we do not adequately appreciate its unique character and value until we approach it as such a Book.

But how did it come to be in the first place? And how did the church come to recognize it as such a Book? And many Christians have puzzled over how to read it with more profit? Sinclair Ferguson writes to answer just these kinds of questions. As he says it,

These pages do not have specialists in view, but ordinary Christians who want to think through what we should believe about the Bible, and how we can go about understanding and applying its life transforming message.

Few authors are equipped to answer with such a rich combination of depth and warmth as Sinclair Ferguson. We’re excited about the book and hope it will be read widely – this is a book for your entire congregation.

Be sure to catch our interview with Dr. Ferguson here tomorrow, when he talks to us about his new book!
