This is an important little book because it introduces – and therefore forewarns and forearms – Christians with regard to the “hideous” effort to undermine and destroy culture, society, and the basic institutions of society and life as we know them. Not many of us keep up with such things well enough, but Melvin Tinker is one exception. He understands our culture and the powers at work to re-shape it, and he writes about it simply and briefly so the rest of us can get it.
Taking his cue from C.S. Lewis (That Hideous Strength and The Abolition of Man) and Genesis 11 (the Tower of Babel) he exposes contemporary culture through biblical lenses and challenges us to understand accurately the world we live in.
A very important and very helpful little book, clearly and simply written, that introduces us to such concepts as critical theory and cultural Marxism.
A quick but very rewarding read. Pastors, if you’re not up to speed on today’s culture shift, this is a great place to start catching up. Highly recommended.
